According to Deadline, in November 2022, Netflix announced it was developing a new TV adaptation of Forever, with Mara Brock Akil (Girlfriends) performing the duties of the showrunner and executive producer. “Judy Blume’s ability to capture the real emotions we experience during the various rites of passage of our youth influenced my life choices and writing voice,” Brock Akil told Netflix at the time. “I’m honored to reimagine one of my favorite books, Forever.”
According to Variety, in late April 2024, TV director Anthony Hemingway (American Crime Story) came on board the project to helm multiple episodes. The series reportedly went into production in April 2024. So, we can tentatively speculate that Forever will premiere sometime in 2025.
